Precision Planning for Implants and Clear Aligners
Implants and specialty care at South Barrington Dental Care cover two of the most transformative areas of modern dentistry: replacing missing teeth with implants, and correcting alignment with clear aligners. Both rely heavily on precision planning, which is why we invest in 3D Cone Beam CT imaging, computer-guided surgical planning, and 3D Scanning for Digital Impressions.
Dr. Allison Bartley plans these cases carefully. For implant patients, that means CBCT imaging to assess bone volume and nerve positioning, digital planning to position the implant optimally, and (when appropriate) a custom surgical guide to ensure the implant is placed exactly where planned. For aligner patients, that means a thorough exam, digital scans, and realistic projections of expected outcomes before you commit.

Implants and Specialty Care
Long-term tooth replacement and adult orthodontics, planned with 3D imaging and computer-guided technology.
Bone Grafting
Preparation for implants when the jaw bone has receded after tooth loss or gum disease. Several types of grafting are available depending on how much bone is needed and where.
Clear Aligners
ClearCorrect clear aligner orthodontics for adults and teens with mild to moderate crowding, spacing, or bite issues. Removable, nearly invisible, and treatment typically takes 6-18 months depending on complexity.
Implant Overdentures
Full dentures anchored to 2-4 dental implants for dramatically improved stability and chewing function compared to conventional dentures. A good option for patients who have lost all teeth in an arch and want better quality of life than a traditional denture provides.
Dental Implants
Titanium tooth roots surgically placed in the jaw to replace one or more missing teeth. After healing, a crown, bridge, or denture is attached to the implant. Implants provide the closest replacement to a natural tooth in function, appearance, and longevity.

Implant Planning at Our Practice
A proper implant case is won or lost in the planning phase. Our process:
Clinical Exam and Medical Review.
Dr. Allison Bartley reviews your overall health, medications, and any conditions that could affect implant success.
3D Cone Beam CT Imaging.
For more involved cases, we use digital tools to show you a preview of the expected outcome on your own photos before any work is done.
Digital Planning.
The implant is positioned virtually before any surgery, with the final crown or restoration in mind.
Surgical Guide.
A custom 3D-printed guide ensures the implant is placed exactly as planned.
Placement.
The implant is placed under local anesthesia. Most single-implant procedures take 30-60 minutes.
Healing Phase.
3-6 months of osseointegration (bone fusing to the implant) before the final restoration.
Final Restoration.
A custom crown, bridge, or denture is attached to the implant.

Who Is a Good Candidate
Good implant candidates
are in reasonable general health, have adequate bone volume (or can receive a graft), practice good oral hygiene, and do not smoke heavily. Uncontrolled diabetes, certain bone medications, and active periodontal disease are relative contraindications that may need to be addressed first.
Good aligner candidates
are committed to wearing aligners 22+ hours per day, have relatively healthy teeth and gums, and have mild to moderate alignment issues. Severe cases may need traditional braces.
Cost and Financing
Dental implants and orthodontics are significant investments. Depending on case complexity, single implants with crowns typically run several thousand dollars; aligner cases vary based on length of treatment. We provide written quotes before any work and offer CareCredit and GreenSky financing with flexible terms. See our finance and insurance page.

Common Questions
How long do dental implants last?
With good oral hygiene and regular dental care, dental implants often last a lifetime. The crown on top of the implant may need replacement after 10-20 years, but the implant itself typically remains integrated with bone indefinitely.
Will implant surgery hurt?
Local anesthesia blocks pain during placement. Post-surgical discomfort is usually mild to moderate and manageable with over-the-counter medication for 2-3 days.
How are clear aligners different from Invisalign?
ClearCorrect and Invisalign are both clear aligner systems. ClearCorrect is a similar technology with comparable results for most cases. Treatment duration and cost are typically similar.
Do I need a bone graft?
Only if your CBCT scan shows insufficient bone volume or density. We plan this during consultation and, if a graft is needed, often complete it at the time of implant placement.
Can I get a new tooth the same day the implant is placed?
In select cases, yes — a temporary crown can be placed on the implant the same day. Most cases involve a healing period of 3-6 months before the final crown is placed.
