Dr. Athar was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. After attending Benedictine University to obtain her Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry, she pursued her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Illinois at Chicago. She has been practicing for more than 10 years and is passionate about staying up to date on the newest advances in dentistry with hundreds of hours of continuing education.

Dr. Athar’s priority is to make patients feel safe and welcome. She loves to get each patient involved in their dental care. Dr. Athar’s goal is to provide care to the satisfaction, expectation, and comfort of every patient.

In her free time, Dr. Athar loves to cook and entertain, play video games, and volunteer in her community with friends and family. Dr. Athar resides in Wheaton with her Jack Russel Terrier, Buddy.

Meet Ari, our treatment/scheduling coordinator! Ari graduated as a dental assistant from First Institute and has been in the dental field since 2016. She enjoys interacting with people and makes certain every patient is welcomed and relaxed.

When not working, Ari enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, relishing summer activities, snowboarding, and checking out local fests with her son. She also enjoys coffee, shopping, and trying new restaurants. She is always looking for a new place to eat.

Candice has been in the dental field for more than 13 years. She was a dental assistant before completing her hygiene degree in 2013 from Kennedy King College. She joined South Barrington Dental Care in July 2021. Candice is devoted to achieving optimal oral health with passion and empathy for her patients.

In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband, three kids, and dog.

Meet Tina! Tina has been part of the South Barrington Dental Care team for over a year. Tina has been a registered Dental Hygienist since graduating from Harper College in Palatine in 2014. She takes great pride in working with our patients and brings a positive atmosphere into the office daily.

Tina enjoys spending her free time with her two children. Additionally, Tina likes to go horseback riding.

Ella came to the U.S. in 2008 from Albania, where she taught English as a second language. She has now been in dentistry since 2015, working as a dental assistant. She is very compassionate and gentle, and she ensures each patient is comfortable.

Ella has been married for over 19 years and has two sons. She enjoys family time and being outdoors.

Meet Alyssa! Alyssa has been in administrative dentistry for over a year. She graduated from Aurora University in 2025 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Alyssa is attentive to detail regarding patient care, ensuring patients have a smooth visit at South Barrington Dental Care from start to finish. Alyssa enjoys the daily patient interactions and is always ready to answer any questions.

Alyssa likes to have a morning coffee or tea while soaking in the early morning sun rays, when the Midwest weather allows. In her spare time, she can be found with her family, travelling the world and eating some unique, but tasty foods.
